I used it for months.. I live in Indiana. >You will have to buy & install a modem & SIM that is USA compatible (NOT INCLUDED). Sierra Wireless MC7455 suggested. >Iv'e used a 6' USB cable that you can buy at the gas station = works great! >SIM adapters, of course can be flaky. Try and get the correct SIM size if possible. **Q: what exactly does this do ? does it send your isp internet through the gsm band to anywhere you have the sim ?** A: It is a enclosure for a mini pcie cellular modem. You would also need to buy the modem and get a Sim card for your local provider. Then connect it to a computer to get internet access. **Q: what size SIM card do I need?** A: Micro **Q: do i need a hotspot service for this modem to work or will work fine with data plan?** A: In my personal experience it works off of data plan and not hotspot. However this is based on a GSM carrier and not CDMA carrier like verizon or Sprint. I don't think that would matter however, the phone tells the network when it's sharing data through hotspot. and this is only a radio like your phone connects to a cell tower.
