I keep it in the shopping cart while shopping and sit when I am looking for items in the isles. It is very lightweight and takes only a few seconds to establish the cane. It is shaped like a bicycle seat and I wish it had a little padding. Also be sure to sit "perfectly" on the seat. If you are a little forward or backward on the seat it is too flimsy to hold up.
