Review: Split open after a couple months. - I bought 2 of these Dorman boots thinking they would be the answer to my L&R front axles. My guess now is you should prepare the mating surfaces by cleaning with a solvent (Brake cleaner-Acetone??) before gluing. This is not mentioned in directions, only the boot be clean and untouched by any grease or dirt. I jacked the wheel up on this side a few days ago. When I looked at the boot it was in the appearance shown in the picture. It came unglued and ruptured. My impression: This Dorman Boot is a stiffer type plastic and does not have the freedom to compress/expand or move as much as rubber when the suspension is bouncing around. They give you adjustable hose clamps which I checked a couple times and needed to re-tighten up. I looked at the other boot and it too has failed. I have done auto work since 1968 and feel I know when I failed to do "Right." I should just replace the axle but the 22 year old vehicle involved is not worth a shop repair and I am not doing the job myself.
