Review: Does what was described, already at 2 locations and no issues yet. Highhly recommended ! - Got already 2 of these products for 2 locations. first one about a year ago. I was just showing it to a friend of mine yesterday so it will hopefully help me to place here the most important parts which I like and I do not like about this product. Setting up is fairly easy, can sometimes take more time but you will be able to do it using your smartphone and the application installed for it. I actually do not use it as an outdoor unit, only indoor, got also another indoor unit for the basement. Im planning to get another unit so that I can have one unit also outside and that way help also others to see realtime temperatures in our area. Anytime you need, you touch the top and it will send to your phone current status of everything it offers - humidity, voice level, temperature, co2. You can also just passively see it on your phone in the app, I think it refreshes every 20 minutes - this is what I use the most because I use it for monitoring mostly when Im not at the location. I like you can set up app push notifications, e.g. I know then max voice/noise level at the apartment when nobody is there is 38 decibels when the one of the devices is running and makes the loudest sound. I se tup notification that alert me when the voice level will reach 40, 60, 80 etc and base on that I know if somebody got inside or is maybe even making a party I'm not aware of :-)) If you go on a vacation then this is a simple solution to be notified if somebody got into your home. Same I have notifications for certain temperatures, highest, lowest, CO2 level - know its time to open windows and get fresh air. I do not like only one thing, I guess Im more unpatient than others, in the app you can click on the netatmo map and it shows you your location and temperatures around. This loads for me too much slow. Even yesterday, when I was showing this product to a friend of mine, first we thougfht nobody else has it in that area, and it took 10-20 seconds until it finally showed temperatures which were read by other outside devices in his region. Then he was ofcourse happy he can have a better idea about realtime temperatures at his area. App shows also weather forecast for next days and you can share your access also with other people, so e.g. multiple family members can see it anytime they wish. Ohh one more very handy feature, graphs, you can see for all the features how is it at the current or also past time and see how the environment responds to various things, how is the insolation, why one room is more cold than the other etc. This product helps you realize there is also a fresh air outside - open windows, monitor your house, see how rooms act in the winter / summer time. Make sure place is not overheated or too cold, and make the location a lot more effective and simple to manage. Saves time, stress and money. I can be writing here a loot of stuff but it it's easier if you will just post your question as a comment here and I can answer you if you need help with your decision, I'm very happy with this product and will be happy to make life easier also for others. a very useful gadget.
Review: Nice idea, problematic execution. - When netatmo works, it works well. However, it suffers from various issues: * So-so wireless range. I have to keep my external sensor and rain gauge within maybe 20-25' or so of the (inside) base sensor, or I can get intermittent/dropped data. WIth my old Oregon Scientific stuff, I could put the outside temperature sensor 40-50' away, and it would work fine. * Humidity sensor readings can vary widely. I bought a second indoor sensor, and placed it next to the base station (maybe 2' apart). The humidity readings were different by 14%. Now, I'd expect a consumer-level solution to differ by a few percent, but 14% is unacceptable. I bought a third indoor sensor (for temperature readings), and the humidity readings on this third sensor roughly agree with the second one. So, I have no idea if the base station humidity sensor is wrong, or if the sensors on the additional sensors are consistently different. (If anyone cares, the temperature readings are consistent for me.) * The weather station requires a internet connection to netatmo's servers, and the servers appear to be having problems recently. Basically, you need to contact netatmo's servers if you want to see your weather data. A few days ago, there was a 3-4+ hour outage where the data was inaccessible. Today, there's been an 11+ hour outage, and it's still ongoing (update: the unit decided to forget its wireless settings -- see below). When the servers aren't accessible, the netatmo is as useful as a dead squirrel. * When the servers do work, accessing the data is not fast. The web page can take 3-5+ seconds to load, as well as the iPad and iPhone apps. Expect to wait to see your data. * My unit came with some "pictograph" installation instructions, which were somewhat wrong. Unlike what the instructions seemed to imply, I had to physically connect the unit up to my pc, using a USB cable. I then had to use a configuration program, which was admittedly easy-to-use, to configure the wireless settings. Note that you still have to use a USB cable, but a different, but still easy-to-use configuration program, to add additional modules (like the rain sensor or additional indoor unit). Update (Jan 12, 2015): it turns out that my latest "outage" was caused by the base unit somehow forgetting my wireless settings. I had to re-enter the wireless settings several times before the unit finally accepted them (I'd get a "wireless connection timeout", despite the fact that it took me less than a minute to scan for a wireless network, select one, and then enter my password). On the plus side, the unit does appear to have some internal memory, as it still seemed to collect data despite the wifi not working (the data was then sent to the servers, and so I seem to have lost no data).

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Power source? I see people talking about power failures and batteries gone bad. The info does say. How are these units powered?**
A: The inside unit is powered over USB using a 110 AC adapter. The outside unit uses AAA batteries. I've had both units running over 45 days w/o any issues. The outside unit still shows 100% battery life. I'm very satisfied with both units.

**Q: Is this device suitable for monitoring your home's inside temperature when traveling overseas for 2 months?**
A: If that's your main need, you might consider the Nest thermostat. It installs very easily, and from your phone or computer, anywhere, you can monitor your indoor temperature, and the turn on the air or heat, and put them on a schedule if you want, or of course, set it for minimums and maximums. It's very well designed and simple, for around $200, I believe.

**Q: Is it included a 230 v adapter ?**
A: Adaptor says 100-240V 50-60Hz, so yes it is included!

**Q: Which of the outside measurements are gathered locally with the sensor vs. being retrieved from the Internet (e.g., wind speed). Thx.**
A: The weather station gathers outside temperature and humidity for real time viewing and retrieval from archive -- both accessible by means of the internet-based app. Not sure if that answers your question -- it sounds like you would like a local mode free of the "cloud" connection.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review
*by P***. on June 15, 2023*
