It's strong and sturdy and easily holds a number of skis and snow shoes for me. I did need to use the alternative mounting instructions they provided as my studs did not align with the pre-built holes in the Rough Rack. This added more time to the installation process but only because of my wall. Be sure to have your drill ready for both the pre-drilling of the screw holes as well as the actual screwing in of the supplied screws (via your own drill bit/attachment) - you will NOT be able to hand tighten these. It took me awhile to mount it properly as I wanted to be absolutely certain I was fastening into studs. You absolutely MUST have a stud finder and know how to use it to install this rack. The installation is not difficult but must be done properly because the rack is heavy by itself and will be even heavier once you put your skis on it. However, once it is properly installed it is absolutely rock solid and a great way to store your skis and get them up off the floor.
