You slide two plastic bolts through two fittings that then go into a slot in the seat and can move left and right and up and down to allow for different hole placement on whatever toilet design you have. Two plastic screw bolts hold the seat in place with hand tightening. That’s it, a five minute job. The seat material is glossy grey plastic that is easy to wipe clean and seems sturdy to sit on, with just a slight give as you put your full weight on it. I am 17 stone and had no issues sitting down on this. The slow drop mechanism is very slow indeed. Literally 20 seconds to allow the seat and lid to settle without any slamming noise. The seat looks attractive and the fact that the mounting section is flat and covers the whole area of the holes means there is no annoying gap between the holes to get dirty, so cleaning is easier with no need to put a cloth or brush between them. The seat however is NOT quick release as described, and I spent about 10 minutes fiddling with the unit to see if there was any hidden catch or button to press to lift the seat off the pan. One thing I noticed is that the design of the universal fitting means the seat can slide left to right by about 1 inch if you push it, so this might be a problem if you were to sit on it and move around too much.
