Danielson Bait Cage

This is a great cage. I had this shipped to me last minute for a crabbing trip. It held a bunker all day while my brother-in-law lost about 4 in the same time period. Definitely saves you on bait. Glad I bought it. Only thing that would make it better is if it came with a zip tie to tie it to your crab trap.

Good quality! Very strong Cage

This worked very well when zip-tied to the bottom ring of my crab hoop net. It is very durable, and I had no issues with crabs eating all of my bait. The door lock is easy to operate, and keeps the door closed securely. I recommend this for crab fishing!

This bait cage mostly does the job, and I've caught many many crab with this in just a few outings, so something must be going right! I zip tied it to the bottom of my folding crab trap with a couple tiny little zip ties and it has held up well from the wear so far. No rusting, no peeling of the plastic/paint covering the metal, and the elastic hook that holds it closed is in good shape. Still, there are a few unsavory qualities that you should know about before you make the commitment to buy it! The first is that the wire is rather thin, and the openings rather big, so crab will absolutely destroy your bait, if it is mushy, small, or generally sloppy. I have a secret concoction (don't all crabbers) that fortunately can make it into the bait box intact, but you just might get covered in mess while loading your bait into the box. That said, I do think this is nicer that the other cheap, readily available alternatives, and with the addition of an inner more tightly covered bait jar it's been instrumental in my summertime catch :)
