Purchased it to use on the wedding cake table for a friend's 50th wedding anniversary. Although the knife is not serrated, it cut the cake just fine.... that is the ceremonial piece of cake the couple cut. A different knife was used by the restaurant staff to cut cake for the guests. I had planned to keep the set for myself but the bride liked it so much that I had to give it up.
