Good starting home alarm system, but very limited on features and reliability *by P***J on Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2021* I was initially very impressed at how easy this was to set up. The alarm system is very basic, but would in theory, be a good alarm system to start out with, especially if you never have used one before.However, after using the alarm system for several months now, I have become more and more frustrated and disappointed. I am an avid Amcrest supporter and use many Amcrest products, however this one was the first product that seemed to be pushed out to the consumer too soon without much thought about reliability and how the consumer would use the device.First of all, the motion sensor and the door alarms often go "offline" periodically, which is the most disappointing thing of all. The whole point of having an alarm system is to have a reliably system that you can trust that will trip the alarm and allow you to set the alarm 100% of the time. Every couple of days, I have to reset the system (unplug the replug the hub) in order to bring the motion sensor and door sensors back online. This is not a problem as long as I am home and checking the alarm system on my phone (only through the Amcrest smart home app BTW). Otherwise, without any notifications, the alarm system may not be online and may not be tripped even if you think you set it for "Away".Additionally, the door sensors are very sensitive and must be practically touching in order to initially set them properly. For some doors/ sliding doors/ windows, this application may be difficult depending on the type of door/window and the location. I couldn't get the sensors close enough at first, so I had problems getting the sensors to activate and sense that they were closed doors. Thankfully, Amcrest does provide two stickies per device in case you need to remove and reapply the device to the surface, but I would suggest having more stickies in case you need to remove the device several times to find the perfect location.It would also be helpful to have a second or third hub, especially for larger homes, so that a potential burglar or intruder would actually hear the alarm and get spooked. Instead, the one hub has to be placed in a central location, but for me, it is so far away from the doors or windows that it wouldn't scare away anybody.Again, I absolutely love and support Amcrest products, and usually stand by their well-made and well-thought out products, but this one is very low on the list. If you are looking for a reliable alarm system, you may want to look elsewhere. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding discrete home security system *by A***T on Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2021* I was looking for a simple way to get notified on my phone when I came across the Amcrest Home Security System on Amazon. I liked the description so I decided to give it a try to see if it would do what I needed. After set up and using for a little over a week here is what I think of it.- Components: are very small and discrete. I was expecting a bigger box and equipment and was surprised when it arrived. My attached picture shows the parts to the system (I put a chapstick so you can get a sense of the size).- Setup/install: was easy. Connecting was done through the Amcrest Smarthome app. The base station quickly hooked up to my WiFi and it was an easy walkthrough to set up the included motion sensor and two door/window sensors. Once connected I chose to mount the motions sensor in the top corner of my living room and sensor on my back door and one on my front door. This was very easy to do with the included adhesive tape included in the kit. When Setting up the door/window sensor be sure to line them up correctly as they are very sensitive and once set up work great.- Functionality: You can control everything through the app. You have preset setting that you can one click... HOME: Turns off the motion sensor but leaves the doors armed. AWAY: turns on everything and DISARM: which you guessed it turns off everything. Very easy to use and makes the system very freindly to even the non techy people in my household. You can also assign cameras to record to certain triggers or events for example, If my front door is triggered (open or closed) the Amcrest camera that views my porch/front yard automatically records for 30 seconds so you can see who or what is going on in the area.- Notifications: A lot of options here. You choose when and how to be notified. I am still playing with this as im trying to find the best fit. You would honestly be surprised how many times doors are opened and closed in a family of 4.- The app: As with all my Amcrest products it works well and its nice to have everything in one place. Looking at the app it does look like a lot more is possible with this system. (pics attached). You can set up more sensors and possibly even different types of sensors.- Bottom line: I like the Amcrest Home Security System a lot. Its very simple to use and just plain works. In the short time I have had it I have gotten a great sense of security in my home. I have already recommended to my family and friends. If you are looking for some security for your home, office or really anywhere you can get an internet connection you should try the Amcrest Home Security System.
