Need a loud warning for long cooking times.** A: The longest time I can set any given event is 24 hours and 59 minutes - more than enough for almost any slow cooking recipe. Even my all day, super slow smoked Texas BBQ briskets can be easily tracked. The beeper is very piercing and we can hear it virtually all over the 3000 sf house. An interesting feature is that once the alarm starts to sound, it begins counting upwards so if you were way out of hearing, at least you would know precisely how overcooked the item was..... LOL **Q: Can this be set to seconds (or only hours and minutes)?** A: Well, it can count up in seconds if that's any help. Select a timer(there are 4) and just push start. It starts counting up in seconds. I don't know how far but, it went to 5 minutes at least on mine when I stopped it. It'll probably go to 24 hours and 59 minutes the reverse of how long you can set it to time anything. **Q: Is the alert actually continuous, or does it stop beeping after some amount of time?** A: As far as i can tell it is continious. i did not see a limit in any documenation and so far it continies beeping until i turn it off. The longest time has been near 2 minutes. Hope this helps. **Q: After the timer goes off, will it keep counting, so if you were delayed in coming to it you know how many minutes past zero it has been?** A: It does count up from zero when it goes off, keeping track of how much time has elapsed since then, but the alarm continues to go off that entire time as well, so it is unlikely you will leave it running for too long at that point. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fewer headaches now that I have this *by D***R on Reviewed in the United States on 20 November 2020* I'm a chef at a neighborhood bistro, so I didn't need something super industrial, but I wanted to time several things at once and not have a bunch of small timers everywhere. Before I got this, many batches of scalloped potatoes were forgotten in the oven when the morning prep cooks left before they were done cooking and the night prep cooks didn't check the oven. Now we can set a timer for four and a half hours and write potatoes on the little white board and we haven't burned a batch since.The top timer is able to display a clock instead of a timer, which is nice so I don't have cooks pulling out their phones to check the time constantly and then getting distracted by some notification.It's a little complicated for my 55 year old prep cook who only speaks Spanish, so I took a star off of ease of use, but if someone else sets it, she can turn it off and see what the timer was for, so I still think it's a win.The magnets on the back hold it to the door of my stainless steel refrigerator and it doesn't look out of place in our kitchen.If you're looking for a reasonably priced timer that can keep track of multiple items and has a little whiteboard to to write down what it is you're timing, this does that job. We multitask all the time when cooking, and one timer at a time simply doesn't cut it. I like how easy it is to set up different default countdowns, and I have my unit programmed to give me 1-minute, 3-minute, 7-minute, and 15-minute timers. These generally work out well and for longer times, I can just re-start a timer with a single button press or change the timer countdown.
