I am using it with a https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DJ1IXX2 and it hangs slightly down from the spool, but does not continue to extend. It doesn't pull enough to be anoying when deployed. If you want a locking one, use the https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001F0DCNQ. This one has a much harder retract tension however. I used it to tether a gopro and it worked well. The RT4-5912 is about 2/3's the size of the RT3-0092 for comparison. **Q: i have a sealife 1400 camera, along with a strobe. how long is the extension, and can it be used to hold the camera?** A: I think it pulls tight. But it has a lock if I’m thinking of the correct one. I bought two different ones. I use both when I dive. **Q: Will this support a14 oz compact camera?** A: The gear keeper has 9 oz of retraction. It is designed to retract a 4 AA flashlight. I use it on my GoPro on a pole. It works flawlessly.
