I read some review about difficulty of operation.** A: It is on the surface of the ball and recessed somewhat. It is not always easy to turn off or on, but a small dog will have a lot of fun with it. Not a safe toy for a big dog and should be closely suprvised with any dog or child. **Q: Is it made with real fur? Doesn't look like it but I can't tell for sure.** A: Is a fake fur. Very poor quality **Q: how long does the battery last?** A: I put in a good AA battery and it is still going strong after several days of on again off again play **Q: Is the ball made of plastic or rubber?** A: The ball is made of very hard plastic and opens up to hold a battery. The ball was not the problem. The issue was the connectivity between the ball and the furry thing attached to it. It was just a thin piece of plastic like what is used for garments to attach a price tag.
