Investing For Dummies

Easy to understand, chapters well defined, easy to find specific info I was looking for. I purchased this for a friend but am reading it before I give it to him to see if it will meet his needs and is easy for him to understand. Altho I already have some good working knowledge of the subjects, it was very helpful to re-affirm my knowledge and also to build on it in areas I was less familiar with. I recommend this book for both beginning and intermediate investors.

I am brand new to the markets and this was my first step towards becoming more financially savvy. There's so many resources out there its hard to know where to start but this book does an outstanding job of breaking down the different investment vehicles, explaining their pros and cons, and indicating how they fit into a larger investment strategy. You'll want to read follow-up books on the specific investment types you find interesting but this is a perfect place to dive in.

Great book to help out a young guy like me become familiar about the importance of investing and to properly take care of their money. Its INSANE how financially illiterate I was and I feel there are plenty of young college students or recent grads like myself that have no idea what their doing. Eric breaks down complicated concepts into terms anyone can understand. I especially found his recommendations and warnings about everything to be very helpful. This is not a get rich quick book. Its about how not to die broke and how you can use time tested strategies to build wealth over time. Its scary to think that some of this info isn't taught in school. Its that important. Seriously the market is designed to look confusing, but this book here will help you navigate it. Highly recommend it.

This is a good book if you need to learn the basics in investing in stocks, your own business, or someone else's business. I figured it would explain all that but was kinda hoping for more "outside the box" investing ideas. I gave it 3 stars because I didn't really learn much. That doesn't mean that it wouldn't be a good book for someone else though.

Bought this book as a gift for an ignorant friend. She is working at a brokerage office as an administrative assistant and doesn't have a clue what her industry is all about. After a few days she thanked me profusely for this gift. I like Dummies books. I buy them frequently because they are a quick shortcut to a bunch of knowledge. If I want to go further I can choose other books that take me further.

This book is a must read for young people just starting their adult life, or for a person who just wants to know more about how to handle their own finances. It covers the basics well and even has illustrations to show how investments fair over time.

Really simple explanations of the basics of investing. Well written for dummies like myself. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because I found pretty much all the info in this book online as well. If you like having a book instead of online I recommend it.

This book is great for the person that is new to any type of investing. A very informative and easy read! Breaks down just about every way there is to invest!

Great book to read, you can learn a lot..

This is a very good guide to the world of investing if you are just starting out. It goes into a great deal of detail when explaining various investment types and why you should, or shouldn’t get involved. It is worth bearing in find that the book is USA centric and some of the words, phrases and schemes are American. This isn’t a barrier to understanding, though, as, broadly speaking the system in the UK for basic investments that you would want to be involved with is the same and, since investing directly in US shares (or “stocks”) is as easy these days as in the UK. Even if you are relatively well heeled it’s always worth being reminded that, A: Investing in the Stock Market isn’t the same as gambling but B: If you’re silly (or unlucky) you can still a sizeable chunk, if not all, of your money. A well written, interesting, enjoyable and useful book. Recommended

So here we have another book from the For Dummies series,this time covering Investment.Has chapters that cover stocks and shares,purchasing a home,setting up a small business.So all useful topics with practical advice provided.The book has a few tables and pictures but is in the large part text.398 pages to get your teeth into.

Bought this for a young member of the family who starting out asking the right questions. A good beginner reference guide.
