The manufact** A: I would say no. **Q: Can the speaker connectors take banana plugs as opposed to threading the wires?** A: there are 2 models of this unit one with all cheaper screw terminals pspvc4 and one with banana sockets pslsw4. they sent me the screw terminals in the banana unit box so i returned it - it was open box so 1/2 price but the cheaper one is 1/2 price the banana type anyway. be sure you get the one you ordered **Q: I don't understand the description. what does the a /b button at each speaker volume control mean? doesn't the speaker pairs selected play together?** A: The A/B switch permits you to select or deselect speakers by pairs. I have outdoor speakers connected to one of the selectors and can activate them or turn them off with the A/B switch. I have two distinct amps and 4 speaker zones (2 of which are adjacent to one another on the same floor). I am able to easily select amongst the two inputs and designate which speakers I want to play with the press of a button. Additionally, the individual volume controls are great for balancing audio into a seamless experience, particularly for the 2 distinct zones right next to one another.
