To 'reverse' the connections, you are really just flipping the rack ears. But it has 16 connections. The HOSA PDR-369 has individual boards inside and you can flip each individually to make a custom in/out combination... BUT... there are only 12 connections instead of 16. **Q: Can you take this apart and reverse a few to be a combination of M-F and F-M?** A: By searching ART P16 one of the first images is of the disassembled unit and it clearly shows a circuit board with connectors soldered on each end. I would say no its only reversible so all M or all F on Front or back. I bought four of them so I can have ones with all F and ones with all M and route my patching chain. P16 #1 has all of my XLR Snake channel signals. P16 #2 handles all of my MIC Preamp inputs. P16 #3 handles all of my MIC Preamp Outputs. P16 #4 handles all of my DAW AD Converter Inputs. This way I can route any microphone from my snake channels to any mic pre input and from any mic pre to any DAW Input Channel. I also have a 1/4" SAMSON patch bay that I can patch compressors and effects into this chain using XLR to TRS cables. Its a great system. **Q: Can i go send signal from my mixer then hook my powered speakers to it.** A: Yes. My x32 outputs go to a driverack and then out to this patchbay.my powered speakers are connected to 1 and 2. You have to reverse the rack ears to make it easy when rackmounted. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good *by M***N on 9 April 2026* Works flawlessly ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A1 *by M***H on 29 July 2025* Great bit kit ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Solid / Useful *by T***T on 12 January 2018* I bought this patch bay so that I could have easy access to both my outboard preamps and the preamps in my Apollo interface, all of which have inputs on the back (which is normal, but hard to get to in my small studio.) I purchased a short xlr snake to run between the preamps and the patchbay, and now everything is nicely organized. I really only needed 8 inputs, but then I realized that I can use the other channels to connect to my mixing board for rehearsal, etc. You may be asking yourself if you really should just use a TRS bay instead, but if you use preamps / mics with phantom power a lot, I'd use this bay in conjunction with a TRS bay. While a TRS bay will pass phantom power, you have to make sure you never patch/unpatch a mic from a preamp with the PP engaged! You can damage the preamp this way ("hot patching.") I use the ART XLR bay to send mic signal to preamp, since there is no risk of hotpatching with an XLR input. Then I connect the output of my preamp to a Normalled channel of my TRS bay (Sampson S-patch) that feeds back to my line inputs on my interface unless interrupted with a patch cable if I need to send the signal to a processor. It's a bit more complicated but will save your preamps from hot patching when your brain is in a thousand places during a session and you can still use XLR M-F cables. I detect no noise or signal loss from this unit, and the jacks are nice and tight. The construction of the unit feels solid enough to take some abuse if you were to use it in a live sound application, and it's a definite plus that you can flip the rack ears around, which allows you to select male or female jacks on the face.
