Any of the grain that is not quite in line with the handle is at the grip so it does not impact strength and durability. It fits my Klax Feller very well and the design is fairly well thought out. The grip of the handle is very thick and a bit overwhelming. It probably could be slightly thinner for a firmer, more complete grasp. I'm satisfied with the products but would choose other alternatives to the Klax and handle if I had thought more about the purpose and usage. The system is very well made, a bit expensive, bulky, and has limited application. It would go very well in a day hiker's bag, camper, bug out bag component, or a motorcycle or bike bag.
