The M80 is engineered to control the resonance without sacrificing the brightness of the drum. One M80 has 4 different dampening settings: mild, medium, , heavy and off. Remember the M80 fits any snare drum size;(8",9,10,12,13,14 etc.) It also presents some weight on the head (more than tape, plastic etc) which helps shorten the low frequency decay while keeping the drum bright and real. Dampen in a snap or disengage even faster with the on/off feature. If you want a dead drum, this one is NOT for you. Works with triple flange hoops, die cast, angel hoops, true hoops, brass hoops, 1/4" wood, and sound arc hoops. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR S-HOOPS or Tama Arc Hoops. Or is it only for snares??** A: These are pretty much for any drums, although the M80 is probably best on a snare drum. They have smaller versions that work great on toms and would probably be great for timbales, too. **Q: Does this work on die-cast hoops?** A: Yeah, it’s pretty adjustable. It can “grab” the hoop edge a few ways. **Q: Can this be mounted to a snare resonant/side head? Or just the batter?** A: Due to the design it kind of relies on gravity to keep the muffler working correctly and it attaches itself to the rim. I would say that it is best suited for “batter side” only. **Q: Has anyone tried using 2 (two) of these on a snare drum? At church, we're trying to lower snare volume significantly & turn up the other mic'd items.** A: I think using a Big Phat Snare Drum Ring would accomplish this much better. It is a simple heavy "zero ring" type of thing which lowers and focuses the volume and attack of the drum. You can even get the Big Phat Snare Drum rings in 12", 13" & 14" and some have no center hole if you really need volume reduced significantly. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really good dampeners *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 6 December 2025* These are great. Work really well. 100% recommend ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Does the job well, good level of dampening, no erroneous noise *by on Reviewed in Australia 5 December 2025* Works really well. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Well worth it! *by on Reviewed in the United States 11 October 2024* I love everything about this product!I have one for every drum, except the bass drum.I will admit that putting them on the drum can be a challenge at first, but it is easier than it seems. You have to place the split on the outer edge of the rim and slowly wiggle it on.It is very secure. You can adjust the length on the sides by using the tiny magnets to fold it in towards the middle. You Cannot attach it to a wooden rim!To overcome that, I just place it on the head.If you are a heavy hitter, it might bounce around on you, so experiment to see what works best for you.Do not store them in any position but flat. The material is leather and it will hold that previous shape.Personally, I keep them on the drums and store them in their cases that way. They are well worth the price, very functional, and easy to once you get used to putting them on and taking them off. ## Frequently Bought Together - SNAREWEIGHT M80 Black Drum Tone Control Damper Dampener, the ORIGINAL, Made in USA - SNAREWEIGHT M1b Black Drum Tone Control Damper Dampener, the ORIGINAL, Made in USA - Evans EQ Pad Bass Drum Dampeners - Bass Drum Sound Dampening - Attaches to Drum Shell - Adjustable, Hinged - Controls Attack & Sustain - Great for Close Drum Mics - 1 Multi-Use Pad --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.uk/products/285083809-m80-damper-leather-accessory-for-drumhead](https://www.desertcart.co.uk/products/285083809-m80-damper-leather-accessory-for-drumhead) --- *Product available on Desertcart United Kingdom* *Store origin: GB* *Last updated: 2026-10-07*
