How high off the ground is the water table? Will my one-year-old be able to reach in?

Yes. I gave it to my one-year-old granddaughter for her 1st birthday and she loved it. She played with one at her aunts house when she was 10 months old and was able to see over the edge and reach in even then.

Why doesnt the plug come already installed?

Because then you would miss all of the fun of installing it yourself! ;)

what ages is it suitable for?

I purchased this for my grandson when he turned 2. He was busy with it the entire afternoon, ignoring all of his other new toys. His 4 and 6 year old sisters also loved playing with it. This toy is entertaining for ages 1 to 6. A great toy to grow with your child's interests. It's been used for boats and a swimming pool for Barbie.

How many gallons of water does this hold? I see it doesnt come with a cover.

I would say it holds approx. 6 gallons of water. We empty it often to keep the water clean very easy to fill and empty. It has a plug to empty in the bottom and you have to tilt it slightly to drain it completely. My nephew is 15 months old and this is one of his favorite toys, he has a 5 year old cousin that enjoys it just as much as he does. Best purchase for the summer.
