Their a varied use of colors that pleasing that while vibrant are not too much so as to be too stimulating before bed. It is a good size to be comfortable to hold with a baby in your arms for a bed time story and also big enough for an infant to hold and flip the pages themselves. There is variety to the way the format of the pages which keeps things moving at an engaging pace. Some have a few sentences and gives time to linger on the images for a little, others a few words. It also gives the opportunity for the child to engage when older by asking them a couple of questions. In summary, there is a reason this book is so popular. It is very well thought out. We are working on collecting all of her books with this type of artwork. Every one we have bought has made me cry! They're beautiful books in every way. The best books you can buy for a child, young or grown, or anyone who really means the world to you. Growing up being bounced around from foster home to foster home and back with my parents and back into foster homes, I never got to hold on to anything for long. I always loved reading and escaping into books though.
