Review: Introduce little kids to board games & alphabet - I am homeschooling my 5 year old and he has struggled with learning his letters so far. This game was exactly what we needed to work on solidifying the letters he already knows, and continuing to learn the ones he is not familiar with. I did find that there are a few too many cards to look through with each turn, but I easily remedied this by dividing the cards into two decks (first and last half of alphabet) and set up the first half while we were still on that part of the game board. As we travelled along the path I set out more and more cards from the second half of the deck until we had all of them. As we only play with 2 players I found it was necessary to also remove the cards we had passed as we went. To me, these are minor alterations for the benefit of helping my kindergartener learn his alphabet! I will note, the game says it is for 3+. My 3 year old does not understand the concept of spinning and only moving her character the set number of spaces. However, having her “play” with us means she also gets great exposure to learning her letters as well. She loves to “earn” the letter cards that my son and I have already passed but not gathered by telling me the sound that each letter makes based off of the pictures. All in all, this game is perfect for us for the purpose I purchased it for - learning letters in a fun way with loved artwork from our favorite children’s books. I read that other reviews are critical on the concept of the game, the simplicity of it, the lack of interest their kids have in it, etc. I don’t see this as a typical family board game like Sorry, Candyland, or Life. It is a learning game for a very specific age group which are being introduced to board games and the alphabet. For this purpose, this game is excellent!
