This is a wonderful collection of songs from the movie, including some jamming hip hop along with gospel numbers and a very soulful song from Cristina Aguilera.  The bits of dialogue inserted into a few select numbers are insightful and a bit heart wrenching.  The only disappointment for me was that during the credits in the movie, there was a song which was a mix of an Elton John song with Tupac (yes, really) and that is not on the CD.

Dave LaChappelle did an excellent job of making the music an essential character in the movie.  I intentionally waited a month after seeing the movie to get the soundtrack.  I wanted to see if the music could take me back to the theater again to relive the emotions I felt when I watched to movie.  It surely did.  Like the dancing, the music on this soundtrack is going to sweep the country.  They  go hand in hand.  Great movie, great soundtrack.
