So that battery connected across a 12ohm resistor puts out 1A= 12V/12ohms. If you give it less resistance it will yield greater current so that you can get higher powers, but only for a lesser time. And unfortunately the ralationship in time is a losing proposition. You don't get as many amp hours at a higher current. At 10 Amps you might be lucky to get 2.5 hours.
