All have been basically the same tubular metal ratcheting frame covered with padding and a fabric cover. All have lasted about two years, the failure always being the padding. It either bottoms out so I can feel the frame or it shifts and bunches up in a not helpful area. I weigh 105 by the way. What I love about this seat is that it is noticeably lighter in weight than any of the others. Don't know how they Did that, aluminum frame maybe or lighter padding materials.
