## Description

The Olympus LS-14 effortlessly captures and playback pristine, better-than-CD quality sound up to 130dB SPL with new on-board directional stereo microphones and amplifier. Ease of use is another key feature of the LS-12 and LS-14 as users can set optimal recording levels on a "Mode Select Dial" located on the face of the recorder rather than having to go through menu settings. There are also functions specifically for musicians, including overdub recording, Metronome and Chromatic Tuner capabilities.

Review: a good older recorder - It came in a non-descript cardboard box wrapped well and in a protective fabric sleeve. Voice guidance works well enough for the most part, but it does not describe time setting which is a bummer for blind people like myself. Order is as follows: hour, minute, month, day, year Luckily it makes a different beep when at tht beginning or end of a list, so you should be good there. I would highly recommend getting a deadcat or foam windscreen if you're recording outside though. There is absolutely no wind protection on these mics.
Review: GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY - I have one OLYMPUS LS-12 and one OLYMPUS LS-5. The built quality of this one is not as sturdy and heavy weight as of the above mentioned fully professional units. BUT the sound is exceptional and the recording quality is at least as good. Giving away the heavy duty metal construction for this plastic model makes sense, especially for the great price. It also has less features than the above 2, but I do not miss any of these faetures. It does PCM and it does it perfectly. Size is somewhat bigger, but it is much lighter which makes it a perfect recorder to carry around, and/or to use with a DSLR.

**Q: Does it have memory card slot?**
A: Yes, the recorder does have a slot for a standard sd card. you can also use a micro sd card if you have an adapter for it. the slot is located on the right-jand side of the unit below the mic and line in jacks.

**Q: How would this work for recording a musical duo in a live situation?**
A: I have used this device a lot in live recording. Recording a speach is fairly easy, as with the Low Cut enabled you mainly get to record the speaker and little editing is needed. I have used 2 of these to record up to 8 acoustic instruments a few dozen times. One I connect to the console and it gives me the sound to work with and to create 80% of my files. The other one I pt on a stand in a between the orchstra and the audience facing the orchestra. This 2nd one gives really nice sound, ambience, applause, audience singing in the backround but also very very much backround noise. It is such a wonderful recorder that it will catch the door opening on the other side of the room/venue and the change in sound balance because of that. It is 20% of the sound I compile after a live but it takes 4 times more editing to be done right. For recording in a room ie in a "live in the studio" situation it is ideal; expect it to catch even the chord screaking of course but all that can easily be fixed later. \as long as nobody wonders around, in which case even footsteps are recorded. An amazing recorder overall and a great velue for money.
