Pieces are made of sturdy plastics and generally don't pose any issues even if your child plug and unplug repeatedly. However, for the few curved pieces which are essential in forming the circle and ball shapes, unplugging is a bit tricky for children I would say. If they are unplugged at a wrong angle, the connecting parts can be broken and left attached in the hole of the round red/orange connectors. Review: Great for learning but poor quality - Absolutely fantastic tool for making 2D and 3D shapes. Teacher approved! However the little pegs which go into the holes of the connecting spheres break off. Four of them broke within the first hour of using this kit. The kids were not being rough with them, they were using them under supervision.
