I have tried multiple inserts including the soft inserts used by shooters but find them sometimes hard to extract from the ear canal if inserted to far in. Some ear inserts hurt my ears after riding for a full day. These protectors are easy to install and can be adjusted easily due to the extension. I find the helmet doesn't create a problem with the extensions. While some may think this a bad practice, I lube the soft foam with saliva before applying and find that helps with insertion and removal. I bought a case after trying them from a friend.
