## Description

Made in the USA, Lang Tools (87) Heavy-Duty Pliers with Tip Kit provides you with safe and stable service of extra-large retaining rings. A compound screw lever allows for easy ring installation and removal. The durable, heat treated, alloy steel components provide reliability of use not available with other tools for serving this range of rings.

Review: I got this to install a 185mm (a little larger than 7") x 4mm internal circlip. Pushing the tommy bar as hard as you would like to, it had no problem compressing it fully. As opposed to pliers, you don't have the distraction of compressing the circlip while installing, which appreciated greatly. I tried it out on some smaller circlips and it seemed to work fine at 1.5". Probably would be good for a bit less than that even. Removing is the same as any other set of pliers: if you're removing from a flush surface you'll need a knife or screwdriver to push the circlip into the tongs a bit or it'll just snap out.

**Q: Where is it made?**
A: USA

**Q: what is the difference between this and the Kastar model 87?  Other than the prices on the Lang set is lower.**
A: As far as I know, the Kastar name brand was changed to Lang Tools and the tools are identical. The label on the Lang case says made in U.S.A. but that isn't stamped on the tool anywhere that I can see. It's the only tool I've found that works well to R&R large snap rings, but....make certain that you lube the threads before using, and put a drop of thread locker on the little allen screw that holds the retainer in place on the end of the screw.

**Q: does it come with a case**
A: Yes it does. A fairly nice one too.

**Q: I see the suggested rating is up 7”,  but has anyone removed larger rings?**
A: I have removed 9” rings with them, but had to make my own ends to change the angle for the extra width.

This tool will help to easily remove your snap ring safely. It will not fit small snap rings unless you make them adapt but works great on larger ones. Very sturdy and will last a long time.
