Your bike wheel may already have a skewer on the rear wheel for quick release. That skewer can be changed with this one by following their (Kurt Kinetic) directions so that the possibility of the bike slipping off of the Kurt Kinetic trainer is eliminated. Last thing you want is to be going 30 to 40 miles an hour on your stationary set up and the wheel slips off the trainer you could crash into objects in the home and break them and could suffer an injury. **Q: Will this work for a bike lane trainer?** A: theoretically it should but not sure for that particular trainer. **Q: Will this fit rims/MTB 29" and 2.2" width tires?** A: I don't think so? Not sure. I bought it for my gravel bike (Specialized) which has disc brakes and I couldn't use it. The bike shop had to order a $40 one to work on it. **Q: I have a saris mag+ trainer and a mountain bike, can i use this so both things fit?** A: Sorry. I have only used these skewers on road bikes and the Kurt Kinetic trainer.
