This is misleading advertising at its worst as its not a 2000W inverter it’s an 800W inverter but only when connected directly to a battery and not via the cigar lighter (then it’s 150W) to be honest you need to buy a bigger inverter that is rated at a minimum of 1000W continuous and having a pure sine wave output not a modified one. Also the water heater needs to be a resistive load only. If it has pumps in the it’s going to need a bigger inverter as inductive loads need 3-5 times the stated power to start up. The reason this is so cheap is because it just doesn’t perform as advertised and there is a reason mainstream brands are 4x the price for the same specs **Q: Will it boil a 1000w travel kettle?** A: No it’s output is 800W continuous. the peak power value shown in the spec is based on a power factor of 0.8 giving the 800W continuous figure (1000x0.8) a 1000w kettle is a pure resistive load and has a power factor of 1 so 1000w x 1= 1000w (sorry I don’t mean to be insulting with the math!) it’s most likely the kettle will start then the inverter will go into overload or worse burn out depending on how good the protection circuits are **Q: Will this have the power to run a 700 800 watt microwave** A: No. 800W is the continuous output, 2000W is only a peak (<10ms). For inductive load appliances, such as hoovers, microwave ovens, etc., a much higher starting current (around 3-7 times) than is required to maintain normal operation is required when these products are restarted.
