Sid Meier's Civilization V: Gods and Kings is the first expansion pack for Civilization V - the critically acclaimed 2011 Mac Game of the Year. This robust expansion covers the entire scope of time from founding your first Pantheon of the Gods and spreading religion across the world, to deploying your spies in enemy cities in order to steal information and technology. As you move through the ages, youโll interact with new types of city-states, engage in new city-state quests and global competitions, and master exciting new systems for land and naval combat. Civilization V: Gods and Kings will also include nine new civilizations, nine new wonders, three original scenarios, and dozens of new units, buildings, and techs that will offer even more ways for players to expand their empire and dominate the world. Review: Awesome, with just a few small issues - This game was what I expected it would be and have enjoyed it significantly! However, on my macbook pro it had a tendency to freeze. There are a few ways to get around this, though. First, lower all the graphics settings to low or minimum. Second, play on the lower resolution. Third, if you are playing on Steam, always play in the pop-up window as opposed to full screen. These will prevent the game from freezing on you. Still, I'd recommend setting the game to autosave as frequently as possible, just in case. But, of course, once you get around that, this is one of the best games I have played. Review: Dont this or any 2K game unless - If you buy any 2K game number one make sure its sealed, not used, number two make sure your going to keep it to the grave. Unlike the the PC games of yesterdayif you didnt like it sell it for what ever, now days 2K and otheres use out side Companys to register their games. One company known as Steampowered located in the Norhwest owned by Valve corpoation is the one 2K uses. They dont care of your granma brought this game and didnt like it or your friend sold it to you, you are just out of luck playing it on your computer. All games nowdays come with a Key Code most of us have had to install programs Windows and millions of others. The only way to register 2K games is to join Steampowered.com and if have a new game you bought you might get it registered.I brought CIV 5 and my son brought CV 5 gods and kings for my Granson after he survived cancer. we got the CV 5 oked after spending a hour online we still havent got CV 5 gods and kings, we have sent the email respones in witch are form letters from the so called support unit to main head offices in ARK were we bought the last game per instructions from them. Here it is plan and simple if you really want on of these games by 2K controlled by Steampowered then spend the 40-60 bucks on it, desertcart has some great buys, just remember its yours for LIFE and you will find that out till its registered.

Caveat emptor
Be VERY careful! This is an expansion game NOT a game that will run by itself! I bought it because I have enjoyed others in this genre.

I am not an angry nerd - I like Civilization V
I've been playing Civilization since Civ III. Loved Civ III. Didn't care for Civ IV so much. Civ V is good. So they changed some stuff like no more stacking units, and certain units are more vulnerable now, but hey, Civ V is still a fun game and the differences make you play the game differently, which I find refreshing, and worth buying. When I see these other angry reviews about the changes in Civ V, I chuckle. Go back to playing the version you like best then and spare us the vitriol.

I recommend it to all my friends
I have been playing Civ since Civ I and it is the only computer game I continue to find keeps my interest. It is so variable, I find I play a different game every time. Am looking forward to Civ VI if they ever do it. I recommend it to all my friends.

Beware of Steam Sofware
Not mentioned in the description is that the product disc requires you to be registered on Steam to install the game on your Mac. Since I value my anonymity and privacy, I bought this as a disc set rather than downloading it from Steam hoping that I could escape that omnipotent evil eye. What a surprise to find that Steam's parent, Valve, seems to have a stranglehold monopoly on gaming. If you already have registered on Steam, agreed to their privacy statements, DLA, paid the fees, etc., etc., then you may enjoy this expansion to Civ V. As for me, I am just glad that I'm only out a few bucks.

Addictive as ever
I have had every Civilization game since the first and this one is great. It looks fantastic and is a great balance of challenge and fun. Make sure whatever machine you're going to be playing it on has enough power.

I'm sure I would love the game If I could actually play it...
I've played Civ IV for a while and absolutely loved it so I decided to get Civ V, and bought it through Mac app store. Really enjoyed that and thought Okay, I'll get the expansion. So I did, and apparently even though it says nothing whatsoever about it on the amazon page (at least not that I could find) the expansion requires steam to download. When I went to try and activate it, apparently its incompatible with the base game I bought....
