YCA1050 PIR Motion Sensor Light Switch, 85-265V AC 2000W, Ceiling Motion Sensor, 360 Degree Occupancy Detector, 1-inch Slim Profile, White

After looking around the big box home improvement store websites and finding all of the motion sensors for $75+, I went searching on amazon. I found this J Lumi sensor and for the price decided to give it a shot. I bought three for less than half of what I could find them for elsewhere and to my surprise they work exactly as I hoped. The closets only had pull chain fixtures with no wall switch, so a ceiling mounted solution seemed like an easier fit. I'm from Texas in the US, and they work fine with my standard 120V, 60 Hz house wiring. I finished installing the third in my third bedroom closet yesterday. They were installed somewhat close to the door frame to avoid false tripping from inside the bedroom. All three have been working perfectly. I read some complaints about the wire size. I used 14/2 solid romex from the hardware store and didn't have any trouble. I would suspect 12/2 wouldn't be much trouble either. I did have to go into the attic to jumper the wiring from the existing fixture to the sensor and back. All connections were made from inside the living space, but I had to feed the wiring down to the sensor. Each sensor has 4 clearly marked terminals for line side and load side connections. It does not include a ground connection, though if you were installing in a similar situation to me, the existing electrical box would presumably have a ground wire to the existing fixture. I'm here to buy a couple more after the dog chewed one of the trim rings during installation, and to add one to another room. One slight critique to the design: I would prefer that it sat more flush to the ceilng. Instead of a dome shape where the fattest part would sit flush it is more like a full UFO shape where it flares out but then goes back in. It mounts well and isn't loose or janky looking, but I would prefer a cleaner look. For the price, or even for twice the price, I am fully satisfied with the product.

Input Voltage on box has two options. 220-240VAC or 110-130VAC. Advertised as 85-265V AC. Didn't work out of the box. After careful inspection circuit board held in by a small dribble of hot glue. Quality is really poor. Drawing makes no sense.

This motion sensor does exactly what it supposed to do and is great that it has dimmable feature in case you want to control the output of the fixture. My only issue was with installation. the hardness where to secure the wire is very tight and the screws are computer screws which means you need a very small driver to un-tight the screws. If they could provide the driver, that would be very helpful. Last but not least because the wire insertion area is so small, most household wiring will not fit. I have a thinner wires to install it and use wire nuts to connect them to the fixture and the wall switch. So if they could provide the wire precut and ready for you that would tremendously ease install pain points. Overall great product and I am satisfied with the result.

I bought this motion sensor to set up in a laundry room, to keep the light on while someone is in the room. When I actually tried to install it I discovered a couple of design flaws that prevented it from being installed on the ceiling, as advertised. First, the hole punch-outs were the wires are supposed to connect are flush with the bottom of the device, and the device is supposed to be flush-mounted with the ceiling. No real way to get the wires into the device. I contacted JLUMI (execellent to deal with by the way) and was told that it is meant to be installed in a ceiling junction box. Problem is the mounting holes on the device do not line up with the mounting holes on a standard box. Even with a cross-bar on the junction box there is still no way to mount the device to the box. I contacted Amazon and was approved for a refund, but it has to ship to Kentucky, I am in Canada. Haven't checked yet but I expect shipping to the US will cost more than the device itself.

Although this product works as advertised, getting it wired up was a real pain. When dealing with 14 AWG solid wire which is normal wire for house wiring, the small termination terminals and the holes leading into the device make it very difficult to wire up.
