It takes a huge feeling (anger) and makes it normal and understandable, while also showing healthy ways to move through it. The story is simple enough for little kids to follow, but it opens the door to really meaningful conversations: “Do you ever feel like Sophie?” “What does your body feel like when you’re mad?” “What helps you calm down?” We’ve read it so many times that my kid can almost “coach” themselves through the moment now — they’ll reference Sophie when they’re upset, which has been amazing for building emotional intelligence and giving us shared language for big feelings. If you have a toddler/preschooler who feels things loudly (or you just want a great emotions book in your rotation), this one is absolutely worth it.
