There are 3 buttons. One is a short vibrate, just a quick button. The red one is a long vibrate. You can hold this one for 10 seconds at a time. The last button is by itself on the otherside which is called a "Tone" it basically vibrates the whole collar. This one is the last resort button. There are 2 types of prongs. One for longer coats and one for shorter. With our dog since we let his hair grow longer in the winter we do have to switch between the two. This collar has really worked for him! It’s really important to understand that you can’t just put this on the Dog and expect it to know what the vibrate or the tone or the Shock means. It’s important to spend time with the dog and train it with positive reinforcement. The quality of this colour is great, I actually changed out the colour for a bungee as my pup has a sensitive throat. The bun you made a big difference, as well as the butterfly connection points. The battery seems to last quite awhile, I take my dog for a walk twice a day for about 45 minutes to an hour each time and I only have to charge the hand control maybe every other week and the colour about one week to one and a half weeks. This product has helped with recall, commands and responses throughout walks, allowing my dog to go off lead where she can knowing she will respond to me.
