Review: Very Bright & Great Buy - I travel and stay in various motels and hotels. Since I've offen wondered if my favorite places are as clean as I think they are. After using a small weak light, I researched much and decided on this light It is bright enough to show any nastiness, and the batteries last a long time. It has the quality of military specs, or equivalent. Rubber "o" rings make it water tight. The quality of this light is amazing. The switch is rubber coated and easy to push on. A quality light that is a great value for the money.
Review: Ewww--has all that REALLY been in my carpet????? - This is one Big, Bad, UV Flashlight!!!!! I've got a couple of little dogs...one of whom suffers from periodic UTIs...which pretty much means that every morning, on waking up, I walk around my bedroom, looking for suspicious damp spots, on the carpet that need to be cleaned up. Periodically, I wait till it's dark, and then walk around with a teeny tiny little blacklight, looking for spots that dried before I saw them, and tackle those, as well--but using the teeny flashlight is tedious, and it's not always accurate on all surfaces (ie, it's not very accurate on a fuzzy dog bed, although it's pretty good, on the indoor outdoor carpeting on my floor...and it's not even remotely accurate on a highly pattered oriental rug), so I was looking for something that did a better job. Which led me to this bad boy. I'll admit it: I was skeptical. Was it REALLY going to make that much difference? Plus, it seemed awfully expensive for a FLASHLIGHT... Well, it DID make a difference. No lie--it really DOES work in daylight. (Yeah, naturally it's better at night--but I could see more with it during the daylight, than I can at night, with my other, tiny one.) And at night? I don't know whether to be thrilled that it found so many suspicious spots on my carpet--or disgusted. It is SUPER easy to tell the difference between those areas that are permanently "different" from unstained carpet, due to them having been stained, then cleaned (repeatedly)...and new stains, that actually need to be cleaned. My UTI pup is what I call a "traveling pee-er"--meaning she pees while traveling in sinuous S shapes, leaving tiny droplets of urine beyond the initial "puddle"...and unless the stain was fresh, my tiny LED didn't always spot the tiny drops--which, left alone, over time, create a nasty "ghost of pee" smell--an elusive, nasty scent--that is noticeable on damp days for a few seconds at a time. With the UVBeast, I found wayward, untreated drops all over the place, traveling off of already treated areas...and, after treating them, I've actually been through several damp days without a single "ghost of pee" scent at all--SCORE!!!! Further...the UVBeast is able to show stains on other surfaces my tiny light couldn't handle...like...furry dog beds, and my patterned oriental rugs. Even better--it clearly differentiates between different TYPES of stains, which has meant that when both my dogs suffered from gastroenteritis, I was able to use the light to tell whether what they threw up was bile based, or foam--which was important information to provide to their vet--and wasn't something I could readily tell in all areas with stains that had already dried. In fact--even after washing a stained bed, I could still clearly locate the areas that had had bile-based vomitus on them, due to the fact that although they looked fine to the naked eye, under the UVBeast, they glowed a malignant looking orange-brown. (Enzymatic cleaners helped clear up that, as well. I won't go into details about the hefty feel of it, quality of construction, etc, since other reviewers already have, but I'll confirm it with a, "Yeah, what they said." (And I'll add that the seller is doing his best to set himself apart from the general rank and file, by following up with multiple emails, making sure you're satisfied with the product--even to the extent of offering a nice extra which I won't get into, here.) (But it's nice, trust me. ;)) In short--if you've got dogs or (presumably) cats, and you've also got carpet or rugs--do yourself a favor, and BUY THIS FLASHLIGHT!!!!! You'll most likely be unpleasantly surprised by what your pets have been up to without you realizing it...but at least once you know about it, you can tackle it all with enzymatic cleaners. ;) (Don't even bother with the teeny tiny lights that are what come up by default when you search for blacklights for urine detection. They DO find some stuff--they're not worthless--but they're more work, and don't find as much, or as easily. Spend the extra now--because you will probably need to in the end, anyway. :)

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can you create a UV light to kill or damage bedbugs, lice, fleas, etc? Maybe flashlight or light bulb for use when no humans present in room?**
A: Hi Joanna. Really appreciate you taking the time to post a question. Yes it is possible to create a device that emits UV light in the UV-C range which will kill pathogens, etc. and also damage cell DNA, but these emitters are very dangerous, very expensive, and only used under strict professional medical conditions. Right now it would be nice to develop something like that, but alas UV light in this form is still too dangerous to be utilised in domestic circumstances, and if anyone offers you a UV device that does that please please be extremely cautious as these are not readily available on the open market without the correct governmental authorizations. uvBeast emits UV-A type which is not dangerous and is used for visual identification of objects. uvBeast

**Q: What country is this light manufactured in?**
A: Hi Helios. (No it didn't actually even cross our minds that you are selling a competing product. We had simply answered a similar if not identical question on this forum and simply wanted to refer you to that extensive answer. That's all). Anyway, thank you for choosing us and our product - the uvBeast! It sounds like you have quite a stash or shall we say, an array of UV flashlights you have there! Peedar 2.0? In actual fact we trust that you've had some time to go through our comparative analysis that we've sent you via your buyer email address - there you will find our opinion on why 365nm wavelength for a UV light fell short in our R&D. You'll also find some technical performance data pertaining to the uvBeast. Although, please note, that's just our opinion, and the Peedar 2.0 itself as a branded product, in our opinion is a product that has some thought put into it., and we wish those sellers well. Upon our own brief research of the Peedar 2.0 it was easy to determine the design objectives the product is trying to achieve. The production of 365nm wavelength in LED flashlight form for the consumer market is somewhat of a poison chalice. The type of LED structures required, and the mechanics of the layering and workings of the substrates needed pose a great challenge to fight back diminishing returns when it comes to net UV output effectiveness and efficiency. This is something we expand upon in the previously mentioned buyer email, so we do not wish to take up your time here. All the very best to you Sir/Madam! uvBeast

**Q: What makes your 100 led uv light different than all of the other 100 led models that are being sold on amazon? your led's of higher quality?**
A: Hi. Thanks for such an honest and open question! We appreciate it. Here is a short answer, followed by further explanation. We cannot comment on other 100 LED models being sold as we do not have access to their technical data of what kind of LEDs they have. Not trying to be evasive by the way, we just don't know. We know what ours are, in that they are manufactured specifically by uvBeast. Please see the product images for a visual description and benefits of the uvBeast. You'll find most if not all the information you require there (especially image #8 spectral graphs). The ultra violet light (or "dark light"/"black light") emitted from the uvBeast is very very effective for common domestic/residential everyday use as well as commercial applications. People who require UV light for those environments, need higher UV power for the jobs they need done better, quicker, and with less effort. Like scanning a large area in seconds or minutes, versus tens of minutes, with better accuracy and results. The uvBeast was designed for those requirements and benefits in mind - large environment sanitization of big rooms or multiple rooms, hard-to-detect or aged dog/cat urine stains and odors, multiple scorpion detection in seconds over distance and wide areas, rodent urine trails, and so on. People can become more effective at what they're doing with higher UV power to the point where total darkness is NOT needed, unlike many other UV lights. The uvBeast will perform in room light (or street light) - although less so than total dark conditions - which is a huge benefit to those where darkness is inconvenient and a hassle (cleaners, managers, clients, householders, etc.). Here's a longer explanation for your information and can be considered as an official statement from the manufacturer. "The uvBeast has been developed, specified, tested, and assured by highly qualified in-house engineers, where all elements and components of the uvBeast are not mass produced, general wholesale items acquired, or generic factory products including factory production rejects. The uvBeast has quantum well light emitting diodes (as opposed to less effective quantum dot diodes). In addition, the diodes are upgraded nano-structures consisting of InGaN and can vary the UV flux to deliver high spectral output between 385mn and 395nm at a higher UV radiant intensity than most flashlights. This means that the ultra violet light (or "dark light"/"black light") emitted from the uvBeast is very very effective for common domestic as well as commercial applications, where weaker UV just doesn't deliver as well. At this point let us say a professional and unbiased answer to your question (which we would rather present for your decision), is that the term "best or better" in the "Is your flashlight better?" - which is the pertinent question - is a relative term. It depends on what job you're trying to do with a UV flashlight. That requirement will drive the features you actually need from a UV flashlight, to make your job easier, faster, and more effective in what you're trying to do and what you need it for. What extra capabilities do you need from a UV flashlight? So, now that's understood, we designed and intended the uvBeast for particular applications and uses, and to perform those uses and applications better using the highest level of LED technology we could muster in a sustainable way. Please note specific UV wavelengths are different for different uses. Common domestic and commercial uses of UV light are pet urine detection (including rodent trails), scorpion location, unsanitary human body fluids, and general detection of unsanitary stains, and in fact any application that requires between 385nm and 395 UV light. If these are the jobs you're trying to do, then the uvBeast is a very strong candidate to make those jobs be completed better than what has been previously experienced by the user." uvBeast Thanks for your question and hope it gives you some additional consumer insight.

**Q: Hello, does it use 365nm? I would like to use it mainly for detecting repair of artworks. Does it work well for that purpose?**
A: Hi Shu. Thanks for the question. Answer to your question is that if you are looking for a 365nm UV light then the uvBeast provides the majority of its light at 385nm to 395nm, whilst it does output 365nm flux but it is at around 50-60% of total intensity. You can observe this for yourself if you view Image#8 on the uvBeast product listing. Therefore, if your strict use is an art/painting Conservator in a professional capacity where your reputation, business, and income depends on it, then our honest advice is that you invest in a powerful broadband pass UV light - likely a mercury lamp - which will give you the UV spectrum coverage you need. Again, this is a specific device with a high price tag, but likely the expense is justified for professional needs. Our best advice, is that you seek professional guidance from an Art Conservator. Otherwise, if your usage is more casual then 385nm to 395nm UV light will give you results, however, in Conservator circles it is our understanding that UV light alone isn't the only solution, rather a combination of radiography, infrared, raking light, bluelight, and other lighting techniques and angles are used to provide a "360 degree" subject analysis. Hope that helps in some way, and here is an official statement from the manufacturer of the uvBeast UV Flashlight:"Art Conservators employ different techniques and types of light from visible light to "dark" light (i.e. invisible light) to detect imperfections in artwork and paintings. UV light alone is not deployed. Other techniques and light devices used by Conservators are using a different variety of lighting effects using visible light upon the subject at varying angles, raking, x-ray imaging, infra-red light, UV light, and reflected light amongst others. The reason for this is to allow the Conservator to analyse the multiple layers existent in the artwork. Some of these layers can be seen in visible light, whilst others only in non-visible light. The most commonly used lighting tool for paintings is a long-wave ultraviolet light source i.e. ~315nm onwards to 400nm. This wavelength, just beyond violet in the visible spectrum, is used to look at the surface of a painting. Ultraviolet (UV) light causes aged varnishes to fluoresce or glow, with various classes of coatings presenting different color fluorescence. Aged naturalresin coatings, such as damar or mastic, are still the most commonly found on artworkneeding cleaning. In natural light these aged resins are yellow or brown in color, but in ultraviolet light they glow a yellowish-green. Depending on the age of the coatings, their thickness or number of layers, the underlying paint film and older retouches may be highly detectable or barely visible through the fluorescing varnish. When buried under old varnish, discolored retouching often looks brown or muddy in UV light, but may not be easily detectable, so confirmation in strong normal light is necessary. When the retouching sits closer to the surface it does not fluoresce, but will absorb the UV rays, looking dark purple. An aged synthetic resin fluoresces pale blue, and the occasionally-seen shellac fluoresces orange. It is important to remember that most new or recently applied varnishes will not fluoresce. It may take more than 10 years of aging before a resin alters enough chemically to create the by-products that cause UV fluorescence. Certain pigments also have signature fluorescences-madder or alizarin red show pink in UV, for instance, and zinc white (which has been used in ground preparations since the 19th century) appears yellow. The examination of faded or abraded inscriptions on the backs of paintings can also be aided by ultraviolet light. Iron gall ink, a common brown writing and drawing ink used from medieval times through the 19th century, often fades from visibility, but remains detectable under ultraviolet light. In conclusion, the professional assessment and analysis of artwork is not solely restricted to UV light, although it is one tool in the Conservators armory." (uvBeast)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for cat-owners
*by S***E on February 13, 2024*

I initially purchased this flashlight to help me hunt down any unfortunate "accidents" my cat might have left behind, but it has proven to be so much more versatile than I anticipated. The 100 LED bulbs emit a powerful UV light that effortlessly illuminates hidden stains and messes, even in broad daylight. The 30-feet flood effect is incredibly effective, allowing me to cover large areas with ease. I've used it on carpets, upholstery, and even hardwood floors, and it never fails to reveal hidden messes that would have otherwise gone unnoticed. Not only is this flashlight perfect for pet owners, but it's also a valuable tool for anyone in the cleaning or hospitality industry. It's well-built and feels durable, so I have no doubt it will withstand frequent use for years to come.
