For the effort it takes to put this compression shirt on, It should have flattened by gut more that it does.I have about a 42 chest, 35 waist and 33 arms. According to their Size Chart, I'm right on the border of a Medium and Large size. I went with the Medium for extra compression. Well, it is tight to get this thing on for me, almost requiring another person to help pull the shirt down my back. However, my main desire was to squeeze down a stomach paunch (beer gut) and to tell you the truth, this shirt only seems to work about as well as a tight UnderArmour (or similar brand) shirt in doing this.If you really want to hide your gut, I guess that you have to buy a band that includes the ability to manually tighten the stomach region and keep it tight with velcro. ...or do a month or two of stomach crunches.
