Red Textured Lens Repair kit will fix a typical broken tailight lens in place without removing the housing The repair panel mounts quickly and easily on a flat or curved surface with a special adhesive gasket forming a weather proof seal Features. Remove all loose and broken pieces around damaged area. Clean lens around area thoroughly with dry cloth or paper towel. Hold panel over damaged area to determine size of lens repair panel. Position the pane allowing 12 inch over lap on all sides of damage. If size selected needs to be smaller trim along the inner grid lines. Peel backing from panel and center over area to be repaired. I just noticed that the tape was starting to lift, so I replaced the tape. The product itself was still in perfect condition after a year and ten months on my car with all kinds of weather conditions. I'm also surprised that the packing tape lasted that long.

**Q: Is the texture of the stick-on panel textured or smooth?**
A: It is textured.

**Q: Let me get this right.... 12" overlap on all sides on a 4.5"x9", maybe I'm missing something, someone fill me in?**
A: Pretty sure they mean 1/2 inch overlap. I used this after some idiots hit both my taillights with a hammer. Left 2 inch holes in both. This stuff covered them well — it’s been a year — and you honestly can’t tell they were ever broken without looking closely.

**Q: How's it hold up to water.. long term?**
A: I have had mine on my old beat run corolla for several years now and it is holding up well.   The tape part holds well on a clean surface.   I did also used clear silicone sealant/adhesive in one corner where I tucked the sturdy if flexible plastic under the edge of the bezel of the tail light where the original plastic had been shattered out, which secured the patch as well as created a seal of protection for the interior of the light fixture from moisture.  I suppose it would depend on your tail light situation and how much care you took installing the patch, but this stuff is really pretty good.  Just the right thickness to be sturdy but still flexible.

**Q: Will this adhere to metal?**
A: It bends, but it is fairly thick and stiff.   It would probably stick to a fairly flat, even smooth curved, clean painted metal surface for a while, but I don't know.  I stuck mine to what was left of the broken plastic lens on one side, and tucked it under a metal edge of the other side to create a smooth curve then I sealed on the metal edge meets the plastic with clear silicone and it has held that way for several years.  This is no-sissy stickum.  It does last when stuck to a clean smooth surface.    But, I have agumented my applications with clear silicone from a tube in both cases.

I used it to repair a broken mirror turn signal on my F-250. There was a hole in the old one where an RV side swiped me on a narrow road while I was stopped. The lens that I repaired has a sharp curve and I've noticed that the repair is pulling up a little on the edges, but overall it's done a great job. The replacement lens is $250 plus installation, so this is a great alternative. The repair isn't even noticeable unless you get close to the truck. Best of all, it stopped the annoying whistling that the broken lens made.
