Has a chalk/pastel feel to it and I almost wonder if that was intentional to keep the art looking “dry”, as watercolour in this story may leave the reader with a damp/cold feeling. I enjoy the toned-down but not depressing colour palette, showing the beauty of a rainy day. The story starts out close to the children, but as the day progresses, aI notice the view widens to show more of the world around them. The story is set in the city, but shows outdoor nature, like parks. I am so glad both world’s were shown , as a city person, I find the beauty of the city and it’s accessibility are not showcased enough in children’s books. This is a quick read, a lyrical/poetic story about a brother and sister going out to play in the rain in all it’s glory. I enjoy the word play if “worm weather” over “warm weather”. Even though there are only a few words or sentences per page, there are many pages to this book, so it’s a very satisfying read. It’s a short, quick read—perfect for a lesson at school or a quick story before bed. Great for discussing rhyming words, digraphs, or blends with kids.
