Unfortuantely no where in the description did it say how many feet you have to place it from furniture, window coverings and electronics. I wanted it for my bedroom where I have a small TV, Bose Speakers etc. There was no where I could place it that was not within the restricted area. I did not want to risk damaging my good furniture, satin bedspread or electronics. So I returned the item with no problem from Amazon. ### ⭐⭐ For looks alone (but forget practicality) *by G***N on Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2013* Finding a humidifier that looked good and works has been almost impossible. This is the closest I've gotten.PlusesFirst, the form factor. It's really quite attractive. Looks like a flower vase or amphora. Second, it's quiet. Third, it produces a steady stream of vapor. So far so good.MinusCapacity: On high it runs about 4 hours. On medium 8+ hours. On low longer. But to really have an impact you need medium, so this just gets you through the night. No built in hygrostat.Cleaning: it does have to be cleaned daily, as they recommend. You immediately get some brown junk accumulating. It's easy enough to clean, but it's a bit of a chore.White powder: it is leaving a white powder around it. I haven't tried filtered water in yet. But this is a nuisance. Some other models I tried but returned for other reasons managed to cope with my water with out the white powder.On balance for the pluses I would still go for this. But I can imagine better.--Update (a few months later): Some of the minuses have become big enough that I regret my purchase.Capacity: Keeping this running on medium all day could raise the humidity in a mid-size bedroom (13' x 17', about 200 square feet) above 30%. It had no impact, really. So only buy this for a really small space or then be prepared to add water every 4 hours.Cleaning: In addition to the residue in the base, I began to notice a brown build up inside the water tank. But the thing is there is no way to clean it! The water tank's opening is about the size of a soda bottle. But using normal (reasonably clean) tap water, it was noticeable. This is a deal-breaking design flaw for me. Now that I think of it, it's the only humidifier I've seen where you can't clean the water tank from the inside. So unless you're an octopus, plan to feed your humidifier spring water, or just care about looks I would not get this humidifier.I'm bringing this from 3 to 2 stars.Ultimately I decided to give up on looks and go for the http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0001J05M8/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (Venta Airwasher -White, 5524536). It's only been two days, so I'll wait another few weeks before reviewing that.
