Yes. Just remove the small rectangular panel held by two bolts at the lower center of the rail, first.

Any M lok rail compatible?

No, the VariArc series is not yet compatible with an M Lok Rail.

My coms are mounted just above the holes this adapter used. Can it be flipped upside down so it doesn’t protrude into the comms?

The VariArc Helmet Mount only works in the upward orientation. Most people that are running it use under-the-helmet ear pro harnesses or rear mounting ear pro. It won't work with your ear pro mounted above as you have them now.
