I fill it with cheap party favors such as, mini rubber ducks, foam balls, small cars, etc. As long as it's light weight it will work. I have not tried easter eggs, but I see no reason why that wouldn't work. The only downside is the sound, it's way too loud! I have taped over all the slots where the sound comes from, and i make the kids place the machine on a yoga mat to help lower the sound even more. I can still hear it from the next room when the door is closed. The kids don't seem to mind and it makes them super happy. Edit 04/07/21: The machine has stood-up to fairly aggressive use; however, running 3 different motors, sounds, and lights causes this thing to become a bit of a battery hog. The Claw uses Qty. 3 D-Cell batteries, which helps prolong performance, but as the voltage drains the functions slow and the game becomes less entertaining. We have plenty of AA rechargeables that we could cycle through, but really have no other reason to have rechargeable D-Cells. Our solution was to bypass the batteries and directly connect a 5V power supply. The machine now needs an outlet to operate, but provides endless hours of playtime, with the upside that the kids no longer try and remove the machine from the playroom or pick it up and shake it. We used candy at first and now use old happy meal toys and other small toys.
