Will not push all the way through the log now. Once it gets about 1/2 way through it stops. I am using smaller logs, about 12" soft ash tree, 16" long. It does an excellent job with most wood. I purchase 6 or 7 cord of wood from a local seller, and most of the wood is too large (diameter) for me to use, let alone picking up more than 3 pieces at a time. (Heating totally on wood means moving a lot of wood) I split down most of the larger stuff when stacking the wood, and then during the season, the splitter is outside on a metal table, covered w/tarp, and I split wood down even further to fill the daily wheelbarrow full of firewood. Oak, Maple, Cherry, Gum, Sassafras - and a few other types as well.Some wood will bog it down, you just stop when you hear the telltale sound, pull the wood off, turn it around, and 90% of time it will split from the other end.Con- as stated by others maybe on Home Depot, Its really low to the ground. What did I have to lose except an aching back ! ? I spit a monstrous pile of wood cylinders into a neat stack of firewood without hardly breaking a sweat! Close to the ground so there was no cumbersome, heavy lifting. No smoke. No fumes. No HEAT. Granted, there were a few instances where a bigger unit would have done the job that this didn't, but at a much higher cost! I wish I would have picked one of these up YEARS ago! Would have saved me a LOT of sweat and PAIN! Highly recommend this brand as I've had nothing but good luck with it. It should handle @ 80% of your log-splitting.
