I got interesting shots the first time out. It was a blast to use and it is pretty easy to understand, once you have read through the instructions. The cord broke during my first use, and I honestly do not know if it was a bad cord or I damaged it somehow. But I replaced it and cant wait for a storm to use it again. I used the recommended f-stop and shutter speeds. That worked ok, but I ended up needed a wider aperture as I was shooting at night. This thing caught every bolt ( plus a few false alarms ) even when it happened to fast for me to even see. I should say I was shooting handheld, which is obviously not recommended for this kind of thing...but it was a spur of the moment decision to go out in the storm. Even at that, I got some cool shots. This is the best priced lightning trigger device you are going to find, especially for the quality. I should also mention at one point it started firing non-stop every time I turned it on. I removed the battery (9v, not included) and replaced it, which solved the problem. I had contacted th manufacturer before I solved the problem, and they suggested it might be a bad sensor and I should replace it. Im glad I didnt. SO if this happens to you, try a new battery and check the cord. Despite that, it is well worth the cost. The supplied cable was inop. Other than that this thing works very well. Spoke with Todd at MK Controls and he was very helpful. I also spoked to the seller, Michelle. She is just awesome...shipped a replacement cable that arrived the next day.Downloaded some images yesterday of some monsoon action. This trigger caught multiple images of the same bolt(s) of lightning. It's very fast. I'd estimate the capture rate around 80-90%. I've been using an older trigger since 2005. With that, I'd get around 20% successful images. I should have gotten this lightning bug long ago. After one use, the thing wouldn't turn on. I contacted MKControls (manufacturer) via email and they had me ship it to them. They discovered the 9v connection had come out. They replaced it and sent it back to me along with a $10 check to cover what I paid to ship it to them. They were courteous and informative throughout the entire process.
