Set up can be a bit of a pain. *by T***N on Reviewed in Canada on 21 June 2019* Being spoiled by working for large enterprises that offered printers that can auto duplex print and scan-to-email, fax, and photocopy, I was delighted to find one for home that is priced at a hair over $500 CAD including the cost of the wifi adapter that I ordered separately. This is my review after about 14 months of owning this device:The pros:* Set up overall was a breeze (except scan-to-email, see below in cons). Literally plugged the wifi adapter in, powered up the printer and followed the instructions and was printing right away.* Connectivity is incredible - don't really use USB or cloud print, but once I completed setup all my devices immediately could print to it over wi-fi and we are mixed household of Mac's, PC's, iPhones/iPads, Android devices.* I am extremely happy with the print quality. I'm mostly a document and slide deck warrior and don't require really print photos, but the quality for those purposes is excellent.* Can't understate how awesome duplex printing is, helps keep the print package smaller and save trees.* Duplex scanning to email and the auto-feed scanning tray is great also, allows me to sign and send documents to contacts with ease.* The thing has hummed along and other than the a small issue with wake-to-print (see below in cons) has worked flawlessly.Cons:* Scan to email was a bit tricky to set up. It was very unintuitive what parameters I had to enter to get it working (used gmail as the outgoing mail server). To make things worse, I entered the correct settings initially but they didn't work so I tried a whole lot of other things before trying those settings again which worked the second time around. Online help was sparse on this topic, would be good if Xerox provided examples for the more popular setups such as Gmail, Exchange, Hotmail, iCloud, and etc. This was the only thing preventing me giving this a 5 star rating - I'm an IT professional and struggled with this, I can only imagine the challenges that a non-technical person would face.* After getting the printer up and running, the only quirk I've noticed in the last 14 months is once in a while, the wake to print stops working and I need to reboot the printer before any of the devices can send it print jobs. This is infrequent, probably occurred 6 times in the 14 months. I also never power off the printer, so I understand that high tech devices sometimes need a reboot - I reboot my phone more often than this printer.* I gave "Touch Screen" a 3 out of 5 stars because it is very sluggish - I'm probably being overly critical since it's probably unreasonable to expect immediate feedback like a modern smart phone. The best way I can describe it is it's about as fast as those old Windows CE phones where every tap takes a good 1 or 2 seconds for a response, which I find annoying every time I need to do something that requires multiple taps on that screen (such as scan-to-email). ### ⭐⭐⭐ Buyer beware when purchasing this item. It incredibly cheaper in 2020 and Fault code (062-380). *by C***E on Reviewed in the United States on 18 July 2022* I bought this printer so I would have a tool that could readily print the extensive documentation, lessons, notes, etc for school. I just ran across this printer again in my feed and I was in shock. The sticker for this printer now is 400 dollars more than I when I purchased it. It was listed for 314 and totaled at 335 with tax. In the tech world, items that age out tend to drop in value - not the reverse. I have been in IT since the days of the Tandy Computer, so I know the trends.The day after the warranty expired, I went to use the document feeder to scan a few diagrams. Note that I had only used the document feeder no more than five times and scanned no more than 30 sheets of paper prior to this particular moment. On this day when I went to initiate the document feeder scan, the Xerox printer stalled, rebooted, and presented an error code - (062-380). After doing extensive research on this error I found that it's a fault message for the scanning head.Since I work in IT and have "connections", I reached out to our printer repair person who comes on site. I inquired about my Xerox. Unfortunately, his company doesn't dive into Xerox repairs - those are typically contracted by Xerox. So, I made a call to a local Xerox company and they wanted $300 an hour to service it. On this day my 314-dollar printer became a single-purpose device - printing only (I have no purpose for the faxing functionality). It would be cheaper for me to try and make the repairs I thought. However, I could not find any video within the deepest realms of the internet that could assist me with this task.In summary, the price of this printer now compared to what I paid for it in the year 2020, I would not recommend purchasing it. For one, the price from the seller is simply price-gouging. I would rather pay the price I did and wait for the ship to come in than pay the current sticker listing. Secondly, unless you work for Xerox and/or are skilled with its repairs, I would avoid purchasing it or any other Xerox model. It was sad to actually see what I thought was an investment become faulty the single day after the warranty expired - especially considering I had not used the document scanner as a workhorse. ### ⭐ Very disappointed.... to be honest... *by S***G on Reviewed in Canada on 26 March 2019* I picked the Xerox as I have always wanted to get one and this machine fitted my exact requirements, it is Colour laser, Duplex, auto document feeder, and it does Fax.However, within a few weeks of this printer arriving and fully setup, I had to contact Xerox support already. The Fax wasn't working properly... it is something I have to live with as after a few more weeks of working with Xerox, it appears the phone line for the Fax protocol required a traditional phone signal will not work properly with the one I have.Now, after 11 months or so of using the printer, I've finally found a laser glossy paper that would work. It is actually very difficult to find these, it took several trips to a specialized shop to finally have those paper in my possession. However, this introduced another problem about this printer. The two output would be acceptable on about 40% of the output, but the two sides seems to have a weird issue where it will be either lighter or just bleed....Xerox has now submitted a request for a technician to contact me so they can come and take a look at this printer... hopefully before warranty runs out....Edit: The disappointment has now extended to Xerox and their technicians. When I wrote the above review, it was slightly after contacting Xerox Canada's Tech support line. Once they have determined a technician must be dispatched, they indicated someone will be in contact with me within 24 hours. I waited 48 hours and still haven't heard back from anyone and called into Xerox again, they apologized and escalated the ticket again, asking me to wait another 24 hours. 24 hours have now passed and I still haven't heard from anyone. If this is a business printer and I have clients waiting for me to print something, Xerox and their technicians just cost me 4 business days.Edit 2: After my previous update, Xerox finally got in touch with me and have been using my resources to test the printer. My toner level went from 90+% to now in the low 40s. Printing and photo copying the same thing again and again on my Glossy paper at their L1, L2, onsite, and L3 technical rep's request. When the L3 couldn't resolve it, they have assigned it to the lab for review in an attempt to find out why there are some flaws on the paper once it comes out of the fuser.In the 4th week, I made a call into Xerox call centre and found out the Lab side closed my case, citing the Gloss paper is too heavy for the printer. They claim the paper is 122 g/m2 while the printer can only handle between 75-105 g/m2. I asked the to send me the details of where that is indicated in their specification and when it arrived, it looks like an internal documentation that isn't available to the consumer. However, what I found interesting is that the weight they have indicated is for paper types of 'Bond, Hole-punched, Letterhead, Plain, and Pre-printed'. While the ones the L1, L2, onsite, and L3s have been asking me to test was Lightweight Glossy Cardstock, with a weight of 106-176 g/m2, a weight that the papers I have fall under.I am awaiting Xerox's answer on why they have tested it against something where their L1, L2, onsite, and L3 indicated that the paper type I have isn't a type of. What are their reasons for classifying Glossy Laser Paper in the plain class instead of the 'glossy' class...
