That's the wrong side to hold an Oasis, which are designed to be held on the right side.** A: The funny thing is, I read reviews of another case that has the strap on the back on the opposite side, and there are complaints that it is on the wrong side. This cover has the strap on the correct side. It is on the same side as the buttons, so you can use it with one hand, either left or right. If you flip the Oasis over, the screen also flips, and the buttons functionality flips as well. **Q: Will the stand stay closed if you are using the strap (i.e. does it hang open)?** A: I have a case for a different model Kindle, but it's just like this one. The stand has a small magnet in it. The stand stays in place against the case unless you move it into position so it can be used as a stand. It's effortless to use. That, and the way it opens like a book, and puts the Kindle to sleep when you close it are one of the things I like best about the cover. Both are done with magnets that are strong enough to keep things where you put them, and are easy to move. **Q: Is this case slippery when you hold it?** A: No. Actually, the previous leatherette case I had was slippery plus it frayed badly on the edges. This case is sturdy, holds and handles well plus has the built in stand. I recommend this case. **Q: Is there any concern that the strap or stand would scratch the screen since obviously the whole interior is not "non-scratch microfiber"?** A: I originally worried about this too when I bought mine, but all of the interior that would touch the screen is soft enough it doesn’t scratch. Ended up on this one. Specifically the one called "Z-Shades of Blue" which is so beautiful yet understated.The case has made it very enjoyable to read my kindle. There is a strap you can slide your hand into that I love and always use. There is a kickstand you can open up if you want to set it on a table (used that as well!). This kickstand also has a pocket so that you can put your driver's license and a credit card in there if you really want to pack light. This case does an excellent job of putting my device asleep when I close it and waking it back up when I open it. Need to pop the kindle out the case? No problem. The kindle is definitely snug in there (I've dropped it with the case on and it didn't pop out - instead, the case protected it!). But if you need to pop it out of the case? It's actually pretty easy to do, which I appreciate. Lastly, it does a fantastic job of protecting the kindle. I recently (unknowingly) sat on my kindle. For a long time that day (somehow didn't realize it for a long time?). Well, I finally did notice and pulled it out. The kindle was in perfect condition. The case? Barely bent and wasn't hard to get it back to its correct flatness. I can't say enough good things about this case.
