It's very stable, for what it is. Most of the time I don't need this honestly, but for when I want that extra bit of reach it's fantastic. It's very small, lightweight, and easy to transport. Obviously it's quick to set up with just 2 sections, and you can just leave it "collapsed" if you don't need the extra height and get some more stability. I think it's great that this is an option you can purchase separately from other tripods that don't include a centre column.
