[A tracking surface that blows away all traditional conventions]Traditional mousepads have all used standard tracking surfaces. This diversely multi-use surface balances both "quickness of initial movements and light operability" with "stop ability." With the thin sponge layers in low cost mousepads, it's the same as having none at all. The middle layer is extremely vital. A thickness of 3mm or less doesn't allow the middle layer to function properly. The Artisan Raiden is the only cloth pad I've found that gives the comfort and feeling of a cloth mousepad with the speed of a hard pad. The only downside is that some mouses do not track well with this pad. My Razer Viper Ultimate works fine with it, though. Both the mid and xsoft versions feel good. Artisan makes the best mouse pads on the planet hands down. My two favorites are the Raiden Mid and the Hayate Otsu Soft. The Otsu provides a level of stopping power that feels great with some games while the Raiden has the quick adjustments necessary in others.
