I purchased this cable to work as a 12 volt trigger between a Marantz AV-R & a Martin Logan subwoofer. It didn’t work as I had hoped, so I returned it. **Q: does this cable hook up to my avr to external amplifier?** A: It can. If your avr has a trigger output and your amplifier has a trigger input then you can use this. THIS IS NOT A STEREO CONNECTOR. This is a two wire statuses for trigger function. **Q: I need to strip off one end for an amp that only accepts + & - wire not the female for this. Inside what color wire is which?** A: You will need to test polarity with an Ohmeter .
