I did though rub olive oil in them before I used them the first time. **Q: Do these really weigh 7.2 pounds? Does the lid for the kettle fit on the frying pan?** A: I cant verfy the weight but the lid fits on the frying pan. I like the set and used it a couple of times for camping. The big pot however is very big. **Q: Are the handles on the lids of the pots removable? Are the handles heat resistant?** A: Handles on lids are not removable. They are riveted on. As far as I can tell they are heat resistant. I have not had a problem with them.
