Get a stripper, a good crimping tool, enough connectors that you can practice a bit, and you will love them.THREE IMPORTANT HINTS:(1) There are various kinds of T&B connectors appropriate for different varieties of RG-6-ish cable. Always buy the right connector for your cable, or you're gonna have a really bad time.(2) Even with the right connector, it's prolly gonna take some force to drive the cable into the connector. The lazy man's way of doing this (taught to me by DX Engineering) is to put the connector nut down on a can't-be-scratched surface, grab the cable, and put your body weight into forcing the cable into the connector.(3) PRO TIP: the face-down trick won't get the cable all the way in -- you want the center conductor to protrude 1/16 to 1/8th inch past the nut on the connector. So buy a pack of angle-connectors, screw the connector onto the angle connector, then push the cable the rest of the way out. I went to Radio Shack and they did not have any weather proof connectors in stock so I got a cheap, temporary solution that was not weatherproof and found these connectors and ordered a pack of 10. The first 2 I tried did not not compress correctly so I went back to try and figure what I was doing wrong. The trick is not only stripping the cable the wire the correct length by measuring and not guessing (the special tool for this is a MUST), but also making sure you push the coax cable as FAR as you can into the connector before using the compression tool. Once I did that my 2 splices were done in a matter of seconds. I connected them using the male to male threaded adaptors and my Dish was back online.
