Some stainless steel blades (scalpels) may not be magnetic (some types of stainless steel are magnetic, some are not). The X-acto stainless steel blades are magnetic. **Q: Can this blade be used for making plant cuttings for cloning?** A: The Slice Scalpel has a cutting depth of 17mm so should cut through plants easily! Result! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review *by B***E on 2 March 2021* This is a very, very lightweight ceramic "knife" that is 100% suitable for light-duty cutting applications. It can open a box—the blade is definitely sharp and sturdy enough to do so (carefully)—but I doubt you'd want to use it for too much of that kind of work for fear of bending/breaking it. The blade is nice and sharp—as you'd expect—and, for how affordable it is, it's quite well-constructed. Overall, I feel like I got a great deal in buying this for easy, light (maybe paper-related?) cutting work.
